Meal Time Assistant - St Michael's, Exeter

Contract Term: - Fixed Term Contract Anticipated until December 2022

Salary: SC Level 1 – NJC Points 1 - 2 Starting Salary £9.25 per hour £3,368 per annum (FTE £17,842) 

Hours: 8 hours, 20 minutes to be worked in the pattern Monday to Friday 11:45am – 1:25pm

Term Time, 38 weeks

 

Are you passionate about providing children with a safe and structured mealtime where they can eat and play with their friends? If so, St Michael's CofE Primary Academy, based in Exeter, are looking for a Mealtime Assistant to join their team. We are looking for a caring individual who can lead play, interact with the children and undertake the responsibility of supervising and ensuring the safety of the children at all times.

 

We are looking for candidates who are able to work for 1 hour and 40 minutes per day, Monday to Friday.

 

St Michael’s CofE Primary school is an Outstanding school, located in Heavitree, Exeter. It has capacity for around 420 pupils, who’s behaviour is usually exemplary in lessons and around school. Since the school became an academy in September 2013, pupils’ standards have risen rapidly and consistently. The school is inclusive and as such, welcomes children with a range of needs and from a variety of backgrounds.  The school has enjoyed an excellent reputation for serving the local community for over 140 years.

 

The main duties of the role are:

  • Set up the dining hall
  • To set up and lead play activities in the playground;
  • Supervision of all pupils during their meal time and organising the dinner queue
  • To co-ordinate play for pupils;
  • To assist with the well-being of pupils during lunchtime;
  • To support the supervision of children during lunch and play, using your initiative to ensure caring quality provision is continuously made.

 

Experience of working with children is not essential, just the passion to help improve the life chances of children within a school environment whilst being prepared to work inside and outside in all weathers.
