At Lady Modiford’s Church of England Primary School, we are committed to ensuring that all our pupils have wonderful learning experiences in and out of the classrooms. We are looking for someone to help us fulfil that aim during our lunchtimes. We are looking for a meal time assistant who will support our lovely children whilst playing indoors and outside in our fantastic school grounds. The successful candidate would also oversee the pupils eating their school prepared lunch or one from home, all the while, promoting our whole school values of Respect, Love, Hope, Joy and Wisdom.
When the School Council were asked what qualities, they would like to see in a Meal time assistant, the pupils would like, amongst other things:
“Someone who knows good games to play and will join in with the games too”
“Someone who is kind”
“A person who helps us cut up our food if it is tricky”
“Someone who helps us work out whose turn it is”
At Lady Modiford’s, everyone prides themselves on their excellent behaviour. Recent visitors to the school have commented on how well behaved the pupils are. The pupils live and breathe the school values each and every day and encouraged to do this by the excellent staff in the school, who consistently model the behaviour expected of the pupils.
In a smaller school, there needs to be an overriding ‘team approach’ and everyone has to have the flexibility to lend a hand if needs be. Being a team player goes a long way and the school is keen to interview someone who can see something that needs doing and finds a solution! Does that sound like you? Then, we would love to read your application.
Visits to the school are warmly welcomed.
In addition to being a ‘can do’ person the main duties of the role are to:
- Set up the dining hall.
- Set up and lead play activities in the playground;
- Supervision of all pupils during their meal time and organising the dinner queue
- Co-ordinate play for pupils
- Assist with the well-being of pupils during lunchtime;
- Support the supervision of children during lunch and play, using initiative to ensure caring quality provision is continuously made
- Experience of working with children is not essential but a happy and helpful demeanour is
